Our Story

Home

At the age of nine, my ambition in life was to be a jockey, so I learnt to ride at my local riding stables.  At age 15, I joined a racing yard, as apprentice jockey, but what with manure and hormones, I grew too big.  Life took it's twists and turns, until experiencing life in America on a ranch, I returned to England to escort riders through Windsor Great Park, showing other riders a more sympathetic way of riding.  My interest for kinder and gentler interaction with horses grew and grew, and after nine years of study and hands on experience, I am now, developing my unique method known as Chiron Horsemanship.

To start, I endeavour to establish a spiritual and emotional connection with your horse and you, to create a relaxed and trusting atmosphere.  A horse is unable to learn if he is in a state of stress, (neither is the owner).  I will teach your horse to be trusting, light and responsive, and show you how to give the commands and gain respect, with progressive lightness and finesse.  Whether you ride Western or English, my methods will help you to build and retain your partnership with your horse.  See Ted's story !

Our Behaviourist

Our Behaviourist, Caroline, has been riding horses since the age of 3, mostly asleep at that age, according to her mother.  At age 12, she encountered an Arab Stallion who was unfortunately considered truly dangerous, and was kept apart, in a small stable with alarmingly little contact from the owner.  Against all advise from the owner and horsey friends, Caroline was compelled to befriend this very troubled horse, and with intuition as her only aid, a bond of trust and friendship developed.  Her experience of horses around the world, led only to a lifetime of varied opinions, as to why horses behave the way they do, and how to train them.  Fuelled by the memory of the Arab Stallion, Caroline has for the last eight years, intensively studied horse behaviour, together with training methods and their affects on horse behaviour and welfare.  Her knowledge has helped on a number of occasions, as an aid to our training, and other behaviour problems, and is happy to assist with any behaviour or welfare issues.  We are delighted she is part of our team.
